BibTag debuted at the Great Wall Marathon
In May, the legendary Great Wall Marathon was timed using MYLAPS BibTag technology for the very first time, with timing services provided by our trusted partner, Ultimate Sports Service.
Ultimate Sports Service has been timing the Great Wall Marathon since 2001—originally with ChampionChip. This year marked an exciting milestone as BibTag was used for the first time in the event’s history. Over 1,000 runners faced the incredible challenge of 5,164 steps along the iconic Wall, weaving through historic villages near Huangyaguan.

With split points at the start, finish, announcer, on the wall, and two in the village, every participant’s performance was captured with precision and reliability.
The men’s race winner crossed the finish line in 4:01:25, while the women’s champion clocked in at 4:27:52—outstanding efforts on one of the world’s toughest marathon courses.

BibTag Technology – the standard in sports timing
Since inventing automatic sports timing in 1982, MYLAPS has been at the forefront of innovation, powering races from the Olympics and major marathons to local races. BibTag technology is the industry standard for mass running events, offering affordable chips with the highest read rates.
With the successful deployment of BibTag technology, the Great Wall Marathon stands alongside other prestigious international races that trust MYLAPS for accurate and reliable timing. In 2025, BibTag will be used at four of the seven Abbott World Marathon Majors: Tokyo, Boston, Chicago, and Sydney, reinforcing its reputation as the gold standard in race timing technology.
