World Record Performance at Lisbon Half Marathon
Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo delivered a historic performance at the Lisbon Half Marathon on Sunday, reclaiming the world half-marathon record with an incredible time of 57 minutes and 20 seconds. The 25-year-old improved the previous record by 10 seconds.
With 28,000 registered runners, the Lisbon Half Marathon once again proved to be one of the world’s premier road running events, combining elite competition with a massive mass-participation race.
The event was officially timed by MYLAPS Sports Services in collaboration with LastLap, SBC Sports, and Associação O Mundo da Corrida.
Accurate Timing for Elite & Mass Participation
For the elite race, MYLAPS Sports Service deployed the ProChip System, the industry standard for high-performance sports timing. The ProChip worn on the shoe of the elite athletes delivers extremely accurate results and is trusted at the highest levels of competitive running, ensuring that the historic 57:20 world record performance by Jacob Kiplimo was captured with absolute precision.
To manage the large field of participants, the race used the BibTag System for the mass running event, as well as the 7K and 10K side events. BibTag chips are integrated directly into the race bib, allowing for efficient distribution, smooth race logistics, and reliable timing for thousands of runners.
This scalable timing solution ensures every runner receives an accurate race result.
From elite world records to personal bests, MYLAPS technology continues to power some of the most prestigious running races worldwide, ensuring every second counts. 🏁🏃♂️
